Fun & Chic

My hubby is on a business trip so that means I can finish up some of my craft projects I have been working on. I love decoupaging. It's easy, fun and cheap, with endless possibilities. Here is what you will need

  • Pictures (cut out from magazines, scrap booking labels, computer printouts, wallpaper, fabric, etc.)

  • Decoupage Medium

  • Scissors

  • Distress Ink-Brown (Local craft store in the scrap booking section) This will give your project an aged look, very chic

  • Foam paint brush

  • Canvas (any size)

  • Sealer - You can use your decoupage medium as a final coat, or you can use, polyurethane, acrylic spray, etc.
Start out by gathering all your pictures that you want to use. As you can see from the pictures below, I went with a vintage, Paris, open road theme.

Arrange them how you want. Completely coat the back of the picture with your decoupage medium. You should also put a thin layer of glue in the area where you are sticking the picture.

Stick the picture on the canvas. Use your finger to gently push down the picture (for a large picture, start from the center and work your way out) and push out any wrinkles and excess glue. You can also use a Popsicle stick for smoothing

Continue with that process until all your pictures are on the canvas and you have the look that you want. Make sure all the picture edges are glued down completely. You don't want them to peel off.

Let that dry for a bit.

Now, with the distress ink, lightly glide it over your pictures, the sides of your canvas board and so fourth. Do as much or as little as you want. This really does make your project looked aged.

Let that dry. Now it's time to seal it. I use a spray sealer. Just lightly spray the sealer all over the canvas and the pictures. This will protect it.

Now you have yourself a beautiful work of art to hang on your wall.
